Clinicians around the globe, in routine healthcare settings, have the technology to make a highly accurate genomic diagnosis of the pathogen and prescribe the precise treatment
De-identified genomic data from these point of care diagnostic tools are captured in real time, informing a central pathogen reference database and enabling the prediction and prevention of potential outbreaks
A global data sharing network enables public health, industry and academics to analyse this data for the global good, developing better preventative and reactive solutions to infectious diseases.
EIT Pathogena, through global partnerships and collaboration, is pioneering laboratory, hardware, data and analytical approaches – powered by genome sequencing and AI – to enable real-time diagnostics and population-scale intelligence, effectively revolutionising infectious disease management at a global scale.
We will move from a model which monitors a few pathogens in a few geographies across fragmented health care systems to a joined up, global approach to identifying and tackling infectious diseases.
3 Strategic Pillars
We are assembling an unparalleled pathogen genomics atlas of whole genome sequences, phenotypes and de-identified clinical metadata. This resource supports early identification of emerging variants, facilitates genomic inference of resistance and virulence, and will serve as the foundation for next-generation research and public health interventions, ensuring global representation and accessibility.
Infectious diseases do not respect borders—neither should our response. We are building a global network of partners committed to secure, de-identified pathogen data and to the delivery of high-impact collaborative solutions for outbreak prediction and prevention. Insights from this data will be the catalyst for critical new academic models and the next wave of preventative and reactive treatments for infectious diseases.
